I was given a writing challenge by @alannalp on her Magdalena Tarot blog (and via Twitter). According to the rules, I had to go to the 7th page of your manuscript, count down 7 lines and post the next 7 lines. So, here they are (not the most exciting lines in the book):
He let Lacey precede him through the revolving doors which opened onto a wide foyer with marble floors and tall ceilings. The interior had the look of a law firm. In reality, the building held all manner of businesses—all of them prestigious.

To her surprise, Florian started to laugh and shake his head. It made her smile despite the possibility he mocked her choice in majors.
“It’s kind of a family tradition.” Her perplexed explanation must have alerted him to her confusion. He stopped chuckling, but a smile lurked at the corners of his mouth.
“I’m sorry. Those majors may actually be quite useful in this establishment.”
